Sail Wardrobe:
- Full Batten Mainsail with 3 reef
points (Carol Hasse). Stack pack and lazy jacks. The mainsheet is 2 sets of line; each line is on a 3:1 block and tackle. Underway, each mainsheet line is clipped into one of many deck pad eyes from the cockpit. This clip-in approach spreads the
mainsail load across multiple points. At no time is the mainsheet completely “un-clipped”
thus providing continuous control.
For example, throughout a jibe at least one line is clipped, tightened to the load and
controlled at all times. The second line maybe be unclipped, moved to another pad
eye, and then tightened to share the load. The clipping and unclipping process continues until the jibe
is complete. Multiple pad
eyes available for various conditions.
